Science Stream :
PCMB (Physics, Chemistry , Mathematics and Biology)
PCMC (Physics, Chemistry Mathematics and computer science)
PCME (Physics, Chemistry Mathematics and Electronics)

Core Subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
Optionals - Biology or Computer or Electronics

Commerce Stream :
CBEA ( Computer science, Business Studies , Economics and Accountancy)
Core-Subjects - Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics

Social Science stream :
HESP (History, Economics sociology and Psychology)
HEPP (History, Economics Political Science and Psychology)

Core-Subjects - History, Economics and Political Science
Optionals -Sociology or Psychology

Language - English

Language II - Kannada or Hindi
In all, a student studies 6 subjects (both in first and second PUC) comprising of English, three core subjects, one optional and one language. From the academic year 2012-13, the Pre University Board of Karnataka has revised the Physics/Chemistry/Math and Biology syllabus and upgraded it to CBSE level by introducing the concept based /user friendly NCERT text book and work book for the science students. This up gradation is to enable the Medical and Engineering aspirants of Pre University to be on par and compete at the unified National level Entrance Exam(NEET),which the Government proposes to implement from 2013. The Board is also in the process of revising the syllabus for commerce students.
